Winter weddings are becoming more and more popular every year, they are both romantic and magical. New years day is the most popular day of the year to get married with Marry Me Ireland for this very reason. However, there is some downfalls to getting married in the chillier months. This does not have to dampen your day (quite literally) so we have put together a simple guide of tips and tricks for having a Winter wedding.
It will be considerably colder getting married at this time of year, so wear thick leggings under your dress to keep toasty – the same goes for your bridesmaids. Nobody will know and it will make your day a lot more enjoyable. Fur shawls can be very fashionable and will make for a nice accessory with your wedding dress that will warm you up. They’re easy to take on and off for photos and are the perfect winter wardrobe alternative to a coat. Men have it a lot easier and can get away with heavy coats over their tuxedos, but to keep up with winter trends why not go for a velvet suit?
If you are anything like me, dry skin and chapped lips are inevitable once summer ends. Make sure to moisturise daily in the upcoming weeks to your wedding and to avoid chapped lips find a good lip scrub and have your maid of honour keep some lip balm on handy.
Rain can be a bride’s worst fear on their wedding day but we live in Ireland so its very probable for a winter wedding! Make the most of it and stop stressing, it’ll rain whether or not you have a tantrum about it. Make sure you have a couple of umbrellas on hand and an indoor location. If you have your heart set on outdoor, at least have a backup in case it rains. Wedding photos in the rain are amazing; at the end of the night remove your umbrellas and get wet with your new bride or groom and your photographer – trust me you’ll thank me for it!
It will get dark earlier if you are having a winter wedding, so brighten up rooms with tons of candles. It creates a great ambiance and is trés romantic. Decorate the venue with a very warm colour pallet – reds and golds spring to mind. If you are having a Christmas wedding cover the venue in Christmas trees and decorations, or if that’s not to your style and the venue already has them up, make sure they can take them down.
Here at Marry Me Ireland we have a wide variety of exceptional celebrants who can deliver the vow renewal ceremony of your dreams – traditional, unique or otherwise. So get in touch today and we can start planning your special day!
