Today’s love story blossomed five years ago between two old acquaintances, Denise and Damien. They went to school together in the naughties, but Denise was too preoccupied with her childhood sweetheart and Damien with his sport, to get to know each other fully.
Six years ago they met again, this time in Denise’s bedroom… not what you’re probably thinking. Damien was helping his brother, a carpenter, fit wardrobes in her bedroom. The only conversation was for Denise to hurry them out because she was off to a party that evening with a friend. Damien even gave them a lift.
A year after that, fate brought them together once more. They were both staying at the same hotel in Killarney, for an Irish dancing tournament that Denise’s daughter and Damien’s nieces were in. That evening, after the Irish dancing, it was suggested they meet up for a drink. After a dance, they went out for some fresh air, and had their first kiss.
One Christmas, Denise opened her presents from Damien; a suitcase, a pair of runners, a wooly hat, and a scroll asking her to come to Disneyland. That New Years Eve, in Disneyland Paris, they were heading to Cinderella’s castle. As delighted as Denise was, she was also concerned, Damien looked anxious and nervous, and he would not let go of the bag he was clutching on his shoulder. Then in front of Cinderella’s castle, he got down on one knee in the snow, and popped out a ring and proposed. To Damien’s relief Denise accepted.
Damien and Denise had a Westgrove Hotel wedding with our celebrant Lisa Quinn Berger. Of their wedding they said, “Our ceremony was beautiful, it captured every moment of our love story and had everyone in tears. From the first day we met Lisa we just knew she was the one for the job, she’s such a lovely woman.”
Denise and Damien had a sand blending ceremony. They chose this ceremony to represent how their lives have been bound together as a couple and a family. Damien and Denise then shared their vows, placed their rings on each other’s fingers, and were pronounced husband and wife.
Everybody at Marry Me Ireland wishes Damien and Denise the very best of luck for their future together. We hope your Westgrove Hotel wedding was everything you wished for and more.
