Vow Renewal Ceremonies

There are many reasons why couples choose vow renewal ceremonies. Perhaps it is a milestone anniversary, a birthday or a celebration of something new. It could also be to mark the end of a rough or challenging patch in their lives that they have made it through and which has given them restored faith in their union. There are literally thousands of reasons to say “I Still Do”.

Often a partner will surprise their spouse with a vow renewal ceremony, meticulously planning it in secret with a celebrant. These are such joyous and romantic occasions to witness, it is one thing for young, idealistic partners to commit but quite another to see two people who have weathered life’s journey together re-affirm their love and passion for one another. They do this knowing each other inside-out and it often brings them back to the feelings they had on their wedding day, giving them a new sense of purpose and togetherness.

Ireland is now a top-global destination for weddings and vow renewals. We are seeing both people of Irish descent or just a love of all things Irish, incorporating vow renewals into their holidays here. Claddagh rings are often used and traditional Handfasting ceremonies are a great way to ‘re-tie’ the knot. Our celebrants will deliver a personalised tribute to the couple, telling the story of their married life so far. Children and guests can also get involved, just as they do in a wedding ceremony. Couples can pay tribute to one another in a speech or a spontaneous dedication. They will often pen a whole new set of vows for one another, reconfirming their love and rekindling their romance. Sometimes we get one partner surprising the other with a vow renewal. They will go to a restaurant of a hotel for dinner and along comes one of our happy celebrants to re-tie the knot. The planning is all done in secret and this is a delightful way to celebrate an anniversary of birthday.
