The royal wedding is still the only thing we are talking about in the Marry Me Ireland office and Meghan Markle’s look is top of the list. If you were watching the wedding on the weekend, you can agree that Meghan looked stunning. She looked effortless yet beautiful as she walked down the aisle to Prince Harry. We have dissected her look to give every bride the chance to own it on their wedding day.
This was the moment everyone was waiting for on Saturday – ‘What will her dress look like?’ – and she did not disappoint. She was wearing an original Givenchy simple yet elegant white gown. Clare Waight Keller, an acclaimed British designer, became the first female Artistic Director at the historic French fashion house Givenchy last year. The focus of the dress is the graphic open bateau neckline that gracefully frames the shoulders and emphasises the slender sculpted waist. Meghan’s dress was long sleeved and was made of double bonded silk cady.
Meghan’s hair was modern and simple. She wore a loose bun that reportedly only took 45 minutes to complete. Her hairdresser revealed, “I didn’t want to do anything set in a time frame—too much volume—that would look retro, I just wanted a loose and easy look, which is why we chose that loose bun.” The bun is easy to do at home and was only done using bobby pins.
Just like her dress and hair Meghan’s makeup was not overdone. She went for the natural beauty look and kept it refreshingly simple. She had a very sheer layer of foundation on that didn’t cover up her freckles. She had a hint of blush on with a slight smokey eye and a pink nude lip.
Meghan’s accessories complimented her wedding look perfectly. Along with her stunning engagement ring, Meghan wore The Queen Mary Tiara. She had Cartier diamond studded earrings and a matching bracelet. Meghan’s veil was a cathedral-length veil, and it was embroidered all along its edge with flowers, each one a symbol of a Commonwealth nation. She opted for a dainty bouquet made up of sweet peas, forget-me-nots, lily of the valley, astilbe, jasmine, astrantia and, as is custom in a royal wedding bouquet, myrtle.
