Advice if you are Looking to have an Outdoor Wedding in Ireland

A lot of couples, even in Ireland, want to have an outdoor wedding. While this isn’t as easy to pull off on our lovely little island as it is in hotter countries it’s definitely not impossible either. It is coming in to the summer months so the window to have an outdoor wedding, if it’s what you really want, is now.

We have seen every type of wedding at Marry Me Ireland, and we know how couples can have their hearts set on something. So instead of trying to sway you from marrying outside we are going to give you a few pointers you might want to consider taking on board.

Wedding Ceremony

If you are getting married by the church, or various other bodies, you will not be allowed to get married outdoors. There are no restrictions with Marry Me Ireland performing your wedding ceremony and we have performed countless wedding ceremonies outdoors in various different types of locations. This includes beach weddings, park weddings, garden weddings, and street weddings.

If you choose to have your wedding ceremony outdoors we strongly suggest you have a back-up plan in case it rains. This may be as simple as bringing umbrellas, to hiring a canopy, or having an alternative indoor location booked.

Wedding Reception

The wedding reception is much longer than the wedding ceremony so the chance of it raining at some point is higher. Even if it does not rain there’s a high chance your guests will get cold as the day moves into night. Think about having a marquee with heaters, and let guests fluctuate from outdoors to into the marquee. If you are set on having it completely outdoors with no backup indoor location, its important to warn your guests  so they come prepared.

It’s important to think about your outfits carefully if you are having an outdoor wedding. If you’re only having the ceremony outdoor and you don’t want to wear anything over your dress or tux this is definitely doable. The ceremonies length can be completely tailored to you so you don’t have to stand out for too long if you don’t get the best weather. If you are having an outdoor reception we would definitely recommend having a coat on hand for later on in the night.

Embrace the Rain

If it does rain on your wedding day, it is definitely not the end of the world. Nobody looks back on their wedding day, thirty years later and complains about the weather, they think of all the great times. Rain can even make for amazing photographs. Buy quirky umbrellas to pose with, and if you’re really daring go out into the rain towards the end of the day and you’ll get amazing photographs to look back on.

Here at Marry Me Ireland we have a wide variety of exceptional celebrants who can deliver the wedding ceremony of your dreams – traditional, unique or otherwise. So get in touch today and we can start planning your special day!
