Love Stories: Jenny and Mark’s Destination Wedding in France

One half of today’s beautiful couple is part of our own Marry Me Ireland team here at the illustrious Marry Me Towers. The beautiful Jenny has been with us this last year and part of ever growing team, so we’re delighted to be featuring her love story today in the beautiful setting of Entrechaux, France.

Jenny and husband Mark have now been together over 7 years having met in the Andrew’s Lane Theatre in Dublin all them moons ago. Jenny was out with her sister Carly, Brother in Law Dan and friend Mick at the time. As it turned out, Mark was in the same venue and was a close friend of Mick’s. As the 2 friends chatted, Jenny took one look at Mark and was over to him like a shot!
They talked and danced before Mark asked if he could kiss her. This all sounds very romantic but he actually has no memory of this thanks to the amount of beer he had consumed.

A couple of days later, Jenny got Mark’s number from Carly and sent him a text. They arranged to meet up for another night out and have barely been apart since. It has been a busy 7 years in which the couple have travelled to over 13 different countries, lived here in France twice, bought their 1st family home and of course, had their 2 wonderful boys Milo and Jacob.
Mark and Jenny have been committed to their relationship since day one but felt it was a good time to properly reflect on their achievements and celebrate their love for each other and their boys. This wedding didn’t just mark the unity of a couple – instead it officially bound a family.

Jenny explains, “We were lucky enough to have a free venue as my parents have a second home in Provence – as France is somewhere I have been visiting since I was a baby, and we both lived over there together, it also holds a special place in our hearts so was a no brainer. Not to mention the weather…. 34 degrees on the day so we were grateful to have a pool to all cool down in after the meal.

“We organised everything ourselves with a lot of help from my parents who went on ahead to start the prep work. We bought and cooked all our own food, stocked the bar with local wines and our music was supplied by our Parisian neighbours on Trumpet and Violin then Spotify for the rest of the night that all the guests had contributed to.”

The natural surroundings with views of the vines and the chateau in the distance meant we only needed simple decor of handmade bunting, fresh lavender and tealights. Guests came from Ireland the UK, France, Germany and Spain. 75 in all.

The morning of- Mark got up and left to meet his groomsmen, My 5 bridesmaids plus maid of honour (Sister) all come together to get ready with me. We all departed for the Marie (French town hall) at 1.15pm….guests were so relaxed and happily enjoying the weather that they were all outside or at the local bar when I arrived. We drove on for another 10 mins and returned to everyone ready and waiting. Having been together nearly 8 years and having 2 boys 5 and 2, it was very important this was a ceremony that included us all.

Marry Me Ireland helped provide just the right words to capture the real essence of our family and create the warm relaxing atmosphere that was so important to us. Guests then stayed for a pink champagne and aperitif reception before returning back to the house for alfresco buffet dining, a swim in the pool and lots of drinking and dancing well into the night….”

Thanks Jenny and Mark for sharing your Love Story with us and thanks to photographer for sharing their work with us.
