Planning your honeymoon can be one of the more exciting things on a couple’s to do list before their wedding. However, with so many amazing places, how can one decide where to go! To help you out, we have compiled a list of our favourite honeymoon city destinations in Europe.
Paris is known as one of the most romantic cities in the world and there is very good reason for that. Paris is perfect if you are looking for marvelous food and wine. It has some of the best museums and architecture in the world. Sites like the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe are must dos when honeymooning in the city of love. If you enjoy shows, Paris is well known for its many cabarets, operas, plays and musicals. If you are into attraction parks and everything Disney a day trip to Disneyland should be on the cards.
While anywhere in Italy will be an ideal honeymoon location, there is something about Florence that keeps me wanting to go back. Make sure to visit some of its more known attractions like Florence Cathedral, the Duomo, the Statue of David and the Ponte Vecchio bridge, but also take a step back from the more touristy areas and get lost down an alleyway. Here is where you will find the best (and cheapest) food spots and wine bars.
If you have time, take a day trip to Pisa. It is only an hour away and the leaning tower of Pisa is a must see. As well as this, on the weekends, in both Florence and Pisa, the city squares will fill with both locals and tourists for drinks into the early hours of the morning.
While flights to Budapest may be more expensive, you will need considerably less spending money here than in some other European destinations. Budapest is well known for its public baths, so make sure not to skip a day or night visit to them. Budapest is perfect for lovers of art and architecture, it if filled with Roman ruins and gorgeous buildings. Don’t worry about the added expense of eating out for breakfast, lunch and dinner because restaurants are very affordable.
If you are looking for somewhere close to home, London is perfect. There is plenty to keep you occupied. Visit the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben, Buckingham Palace and the Tower of London . If it is a nice day why not rent some city bikes and cycle around Hyde Park. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from but if you are looking for something a bit more chilled, a day in Camden markets won’t disappoint. There is a great mix of stalls from food, to hand crafted merchandise, to jewellery and vintage clothes. At night you can catch a West End musical or play or visit one of the many bars and clubs around the city. Soho is a particularly popular spot to grab some drinks and go clubbing.
The Spanish capital is a mixture of the laid back Mediterranean style and cosmopolitan city vibes. While here, visit one of the many beautiful parks and gardens. Take a boat trip in el Parque de Retiro or have a picnic looking up at the many amazing surrounding buildings and statues. As well, the Royal Palace of Madrid is a must see when roaming around the city. If you are looking to just chill, town squares are in abundance; people watch as you drink and eat some Spanish cuisine.
