If you’re getting married in Ireland in winter, or early spring, there’s a definite chance that you’ll get bad weather on your wedding day. While ideally you want the sun to be shining, it’s not the end of the world if there’s a bit of rain or overcast. Twenty years from now, when you’re looking back on the day you walked down the aisle, the weather won’t even cross your mind.
If it Rains
If it is raining on your day, our advice to you is to embrace it. The only thing that can dampen your day (no pun intended) is your attitude. In some cultures, it is even considered lucky to have rain on your wedding day. Be prepared with umbrellas that match the theme of your wedding and/or your outfits. Rain can make for really cool photographs, get out there and take full advantage. Some couples even get wet at the end of the night to get awesome photographs!
If it is Overcast
Many photographers say that you will get much better wedding photos on an overcast or cloudy day. Direct sunlight can cause harsh shadows that will make for imperfect skin. Overcast also means that you won’t get too hot and sticky. There’s nothing worse than sweat stains in your suit or dress.
Either way, rain, snow, or sun, do not let bad weather on your wedding ruin your, or anyone else’s, day. Don’t overthink it before hand but be prepared with umbrellas (and marquees for outdoor weddings) just in case. The most important thing is that you and your significant other have a magical day, so don’t get caught up in the things that are out of your control.
