April weddings are some of our favourites in the Marry Me Ireland office. The sun finally starts to shine, the flowers are in bloom, and everyone seems to have an extra ‘spring’ in their step as Spring finally starts to… well act like Spring. If you’ve been dreaming of an April wedding it is never too late to start planning.
Spring time means an end to dark heavy colours in favour of lighter pastel colour palettes. Popular colours for April weddings include rose pink and green, multiple shades of light blues, yellow and lavender, and dusty blue and mint green.
April, along with May, is the best month for flowers. Loads of flowers are in bloom so you will have an array to choose from at a great price. Sweet pea, peonies, tweedia, rose, lily of the valley, ranunculas, and gardenias are just some of the stunning flowers that are in bloom in April, all of which are perfect for weddings. Try and have continuity by using the same flowers throughout your wedding. If you want something less expensive as centre pieces, have your florist add some to your bouquet.
April weddings usually have lighter foods than the warm filling foods you’d find in Winter. Fish is always a good option, but not everyone likes it so if you can, have more than one option. It’s not quite barbeque season yet so I’d hold off on having outdoor grills but if you want something more laid back than a sit down dinner, why not have taco stands or pizza ovens.
While the sun finally comes out of hiding in April, we still live in Ireland so don’t go crazy with a summer dress code. The groom will need an overcoat and the bride will need something in case it gets chilly, but the good news is, you’ll be able to get photos outside without freezing to death.
Here at Marry Me Ireland we have a wide variety of exceptional celebrants who can deliver the wedding ceremony of your dreams – traditional, unique or otherwise. So get in touch today and we can start planning your special day!
